The actual Telugu film industry's scam-tainted faces upon Friday expressed its total solidarity along with veteran Gandhian activist Anna Hazare within his crusade against corruption and intro of Jan Lok Pal Bill within Parliament.
Several film actors, actresses, company directors, writers and workers from as many as 24 wings from the film industry under the banner associated with Movie Artistes Association (MAA) took away a rally from Andhra Pradesh Movie Chamber of Commerce in Jubilee Hills as much as Filmnagar Club, where they sat for a day-long fast meant for Anna Hazare.
Interestingly, some of the participants within the rally had faced charges of problems. Former union minister and noted movie director Dasari Narayana Rao who brought the rally was accused of defaulting repayment of large amount of loan taken from Prudential Cooperative City Bank in Secunderabad. Similarly, Movie Artistes Organization president Murali Mohan, who had a large network of real estate ventures around Hyderabad in the name of Jayabheri Locations, had also once faced a situation under Section 420 of IPC (cheating) within Madhapur police station in Hyderabad for irregularities in trying out a real estate venture.
Among others who participated within the rally include actor-couple Rajasekhar and Jeevitha, personality actor Tanikell Bharani, comedian Babu Mohan and many upcoming heroes and heroines. Some of these tied black ribbons across their jaws, while others held placards and raised slogans meant for Hazare. Interestingly, almost all the top actors from the Tollywood stayed away from the move.
Speaking on the occasion, Dasari said regardless of the political affiliation, the artistes should join Hazare in his combat corruption. Babu Mohan said it had been unfortunate that Hazare was kept within Tihar jail, where notorious criminals had been imprisoned.
Actress Jeevitha said there was no option to Jan Lok Pal for which Anna Hazare have been fighting, because 80 per cent from the politicians were corrupt and hence, they have to be made accountable.
Elsewhere in Andhra Pradesh, rallies and relay hunger strikes continued for that fourth day as a mark associated with solidarity to Anna Hazare.
